From our day on Tuesday…
6:00 a.m.–My alarm goes off. I snooze it once, eventually wake up and scroll through my phone while Gerrit gets up and starts getting ready for work. Then it’s time for a bit of work on my computer. Waking up at 6:00 (well, 6:30) so I can squeeze in at least half an hour of blog work in the mornings before Evelyn (usually) wakes up around 7:00 has been a great decision.
7:00 a.m.–Evelyn is up and squirming around. I go get her, change her diaper, and then it’s time for her to eat. After that we usually hang out in her nursery for a bit, sitting in her chair talking and playing or sometimes reading a story. (And yes, she is wearing Christmas pajamas…it was all that clean last night.)
Eventually I go get dressed while Evelyn plays on the floor in my room, and then we are downstairs for me to eat some breakfast.
8:30 a.m.–Evelyn fell asleep for her morning nap while I was eating breakfast (a little earlier than usual…and with a little less fuss than usual) and I use the time to make some breakfast bars.
9:00 a.m.–Evelyn is awake (she usually only will nap for 30 minutes these days), but she seems pretty content playing with toys sitting in her swing seat, so I take the opportunity to get a few more things done on my computer while sitting next to her at the kitchen table.
9:15 a.m.–Time for some play time.
10:30 a.m.–Evelyn seems to need another nap and falls asleep. I put her in her crib and about 5 minutes later the dog decides to run in her room to get his bone, which wakes her up. Grrrrr.
10:45 a.m.–Lunch for me and then lunch for Evelyn.
11:00 a.m.–Time to get dressed to go to the office for the afternoon, which is particularly exciting today because I got a Stitch Fix this week (finally using the gift card I got for Christmas a YEAR ago, and which I’ve been saving since I got it right when I found out I was expecting Evelyn). I LOVE my new blouse, and these pants are the most comfortable pants I’ve ever put on.
11:45 a.m.–Leave to drop Evelyn off with her grandmother for the afternoon, then get gas, stop by the post office, get stopped by a train, and finally make it to the office.
12:45 p.m.–Work. Days when I don’t have Evelyn with me are usually great for productivity, but I also miss not having her with me.
4:30 p.m.–Leave the office and run one more errand. Then stop by Gerrit’s mom’s house to drop off milk for Evelyn for the evening and see Evelyn (who is asleep). Then head home. These deer were in a neighborhood yard. I rolled down my window and watched them for a minute and they looked at me and went on about their munching on the lawn business.
5:30 p.m.–A quick 15 minutes of yoga.
6:00 p.m.–Bunco night at a friends’ house. There’s a group I’ve been subbing for occasionally, and I was glad they needed me tonight. Since I was away from Evelyn all afternoon, I miss her, of course, but it’s great to have a fun child-free evening and know that Gerrit will have Evelyn fed and bathed and in bed when I get home.
10:30 p.m.–Time for sleep.
(By the way, can I just say that I love how you can use instagram filters and then just save the photo instead of actually posting it?)

I love these posts, since it’s always fun to get a glimpse into how other people live their regular days. You seem so organized with caring for Evelyn and working–I’m impressed!
Abby–thanks, but it’s harder than it looks! Tuesday felt pretty smooth…some days feel like complete chaos! Especially days that combine a fussy baby and big work load!
