Favorite dish/meal: Hands down, as far as meals made at home go (and honestly possibly even beating all the meals we had in Italy, which is saying a lot), the Swiss Mushroom Steak Crepes I made at the beginning of the month were by far the favorite. I am still dreaming about that taste, and am plotting an occasion when I can justify such richness again.
Least successful: I made some pesto the other night with entirely too much garlic. I think I brushed my teeth like 3 times and could still taste it. Best remedy though? I made a cheesy bechemel sauce to mix the pesto with, which evened out the flavor a bit more (I think the garlic would have been unbearable had we eaten the pesto alone on our pasta).
What we ate the most of: Obviously with our trip to Italy, we ate A LOT of pasta, and a good amount of pizza. And I had several gnocchi dishes, too. But I am no where close to sick of these foods, because I’m currently making lists and notes about how I can possibly recreate my favorite dishes at home.
What we ate in other places: Favorite Italy dishes: Cheese Ravioli with Citrus Aroma at Cul de Sac in Rome; Pizza at Baffetto 2 in Rome; Trattoria Le Mossacce in Florence; Cheesy Gnocchi with Truffle Oil at Enoteca Santo Spirito in Florence.
